THIS MONTH’S UNIT TITLE IS: New Life

God makes all things new. In Jesus we are given a fresh start and a new beginning. Through His death on the cross, He offers us new life—restored, redeemed and full of hope. One day He will renew all of creation, making everything whole again. Only Jesus has the power to make all things new. Only He can save us.

This Month's Attribute of God is: God is Redeemer

Jesus took the punishment for sin and rose from the dead, defeating death and offering new life to all who believe. Jesus revealed that all of Scripture points to His redemptive mission to save people from sin. The promise of His return assures believers that redemption is not only a past event but a future hope. God sent the Holy Spirit to empower His followers and continue His work of redemption through the Church. God is our Redeemer who rescues, restores, and brings new life through Jesus.

The Cross and the Empty Tomb

After His arrest, Jesus was led away and put on trial by religious and political officials. Even though He had done nothing wrong, Jesus was beaten, mocked, and sentenced to die on the cross. Jesus was crucified in between two thieves. One made fun of Him. After Jesus died, He was buried in a tomb. When some of His followers returned on the first day of the week, they were shocked to find an empty tomb. Angels said, “He is not here! He is risen!” Jesus defeated death!

Jesus was alive and everything was about to change. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. Death is the punishment we all deserve because of the things we think, say or do that disobey God. Jesus died for our sins, but He didn’t stay dead. He rose from the dead, defeating death and making a way for us to live forever with Him. When we understand that Jesus is the only way to be forgiven and trust Him as our Savior, we will live forever with Him.
